The national Employment Service in Slovenia reported a drop in unemployment rates at the end of December 2023, standing at 48,353. This shows a 9.1 percent decrease compared to the end of the previous year. However, a 2.5 percent increase was recorded on a month-to-month basis due in part to a reduced demand for employees at the year’s end. The Service also reported that on average, there were 48,709 unemployed individuals per month in 2023, marking a 14 percent reduction from 2022’s numbers. Even so, new job opportunities offered in 2023 were 4.8 percent less than the previous year. Companies are also facing challenges in recruiting suitable workers, leading to increased wage pressures. The Statistical Office of the nation disclosed an increase of average gross wage by 10 percent during the first ten months of 2023 in comparison with the same period in 2022.
