Alabama Labor Department Launches Improved Online Platform for Unemployment Claims
The Alabama Department of Labor (ADOL) has announced an improved customer service portal for unemployment claimants. Known as the Claimant Portal (CP), this enhancement modifies the current website used by claimants to file and certify their unemployment compensation claims. Features of the new portal include creating an account or signing in via Apple, Google, or Microsoft, filing claims quickly, and accessing more information. Users will still be able to complete these tasks via phone by calling a provided number.
Claimants or employers filing an unemployment compensation appeal will now follow a different process. They will need to register the day before their hearings by providing a phone number. Failure to provide a number or to answer the call will be considered a non-appearance and the original claim decision will stand. This new process will speed up the hearings and decision-making process.
“We are excited to roll out our new Claimant Portal to allow our customers better access to their claims information, said Alabama Department of Labor Secretary Fitzgerald Washington. “This also improves security, making sure that customers’ information is protected.
Both the changes are expected to be implemented on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. The existing URL, www.labor.alabama.gov, will remain unchanged. Instructions on how to use the new Claimant Portal will be provided.
