Cong's 'Justice' March: A Stand Against Poverty, Unemployment, Caste Discrimination, and Agricultural Crisis
The Congress party has criticised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his failure to deliver justice and has accused him of betraying all sections of society except the elites. This criticism comes as Congress plans for the Nyay Yatra, which will be launched by Rahul Gandhi. A promotional video for the Nyay Yatra was released, portraying the upcoming event as an upsurge against prevalent injustice rather than a political competition.
The video encapsulates varied social issues, from extreme poverty to unemployment, agrarian issues, caste discrimination, and up to the mismanaged Covid lockdown. The video’s discourse emphasizes a narrative of the poor versus the rich, stating, “You talk of the skies, they are grappling with injustice on the ground even now. You live in the heart of the rich; they are trampled underfoot even now. It further evokes the rise of the common man against the injustices done to them, seeking equal rights, employment, and respect.
In highlighting Modi’s unkept promises, the video showcases images of farmers protest, and people queuing for basic needs during the lockdown, alongside images of charming photos of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, demonstrating the seamless integration of their mission for unity and justice.
While addressing a press conference, Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge stated that the Nyay Yatra aims to attract the nation’s attention towards basic societal issues as PM Modi is seen visiting sea beaches or paying a visit to Ayodhya. Kharge criticised Modi for ignoring the country’s substantial issues with remarkable irresponsibility and insensitivity. Adding that if governance continues in this manner, the nation’s democracy will eventually be eradicated. He urged citizens to stand up for justice, equality, and fraternity, all of which represent the entity of the Nyay Yatra.
The Congress has put together a publicity committee to handle the party’s Lok Sabha election campaign, which includes prominent party members such as Ajay Maken, K.C. Venugopal, Jairam Ramesh, Pawan Khera, Supriya Shrinate, and Gurdeep Sappal. The party leaders are acknowledging, in private and in public, that the violence in Sandeshkhali has put them on the back foot in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.
