The local industry in Jammu & Kashmir has expressed anticipation ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, with the hope that the PM will address the problem of unemployment and endorse the ease of doing business in the region. The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) released a statement saying that the PM’s visit and the inauguration of important projects will prove pivotal to the development of Jammu & Kashmir. The KCCI has highlighted the lack of industrial support and infrastructure as key obstacles to the territory’s overall development. It emphasizes the implementation of the ‘Ease Of Doing Business’ scheme, noting the PM’s fondness for the scheme. The KCCI praised the PM for addressing its suggestions in the past, now looking forward to his consideration of proposals crucial to the comprehensive development of Jammu & Kashmir, particularly in terms of the growing unemployment rate. Furthermore, the KCCI encouraged the government to offer subsidies for commercial solar power system installations, similar to those available for domestic installations. The organization also proposed a special emphasis on sectors like IT, Innovation, startups, women development, horticulture, handicrafts. The body hopes that the PM’s visit would expedite the planning and implementation of these developmental strategies, nurturing the future growth of Jammu & Kashmir.
