This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Berlin Marathon, solidifying its status as the world’s largest marathon. Among its 54,280 participants were two athletes from Aberystwyth Athletic Club, Edd Land and Tracy Breedon. Land completed the race in 2.50.18 and Breedon in 3.16.24. Land described the race as crowded but said it was worth being part of such a record-setting event. Back in the UK, Hannah Dee chose the picturesque location of Loch Ness to run her first marathon, finishing in 5.19.54. Wales’ Bangor half marathon, part of the Welsh Castles series, saw more Aberystwyth Athletic Club Members racing. Edd Land finished second in 1.20.56, Paul Jones ranked 13th in 1.28.35, and Lina Land in 2.01.51.
