EDD Scheduled to Conduct an AI & PIPA Fintech Webinar
The Economic Development Department (EDD) has announced an upcoming Fintech Webinar set for June 27, 2025. This session, starting at 12:00 pm, will feature Dr. Marisa Stones and Lovette Tannock discussing the correlation between data privacy and artificial intelligence. This is part of Bermuda’s Economic Development Strategy to promote the understanding of emerging technologies while supporting regulatory clarity and promoting ethical innovation. The industry professionals will examine how the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) supports digital economic innovation in Bermuda.
Dr. Marisa Stones expressed that this event is instrumental in promoting awareness and adoption of emerging technologies. On the other hand, Lovette Tannock emphasized on the responsibilities of companies in the digital space in safeguarding personal information collected during their operations. Beyond compliance with PIPA, she noted the need for these businesses to consider the laws of other jurisdictions.
The government spokesperson informed that the webinar is free, and the public is encouraged to register via the EDD Webinar Series link provided. This webinar is deemed to be a valuable source for those interested in both the privacy and fintech space in Bermuda.
