St. Catherine University has announced the appointment of JaeEun Joo, EdD, as the first-ever associate provost of adult education and online learning. Starting from July 14, 2025, Joo will utilize her 25-year experience in online education to expand St. Kate’s global educational reach, enhance teaching and operational effectiveness, build strong partnerships, and ensure extraordinary learner experiences.

St. Catherine University has a strong track record of catering to a wide variety of learners. This strategic focus on adult education and online learning is a testament to this longstanding commitment. Joo, with her exceptional history of creating and managing academic programs, is an ideal candidate for this position.

As the new associate provost, Joo’s remit will be to develop, roll out and supervise workforce-aligned programs that cater to diverse learner demographics. The goal is to ensure that St. Kate’s continues to deliver superior, flexible, and convenient learning opportunities.

Before joining St. Kate’s, Joo served as the executive director of online learning at Metropolitan State University Denver. At MSU Denver, she developed a strategic plan for the Office of Online Learning and increased student enrolments while spearheading faculty development initiatives. Earlier, Joo was an independent education consultant and a research scientist at the University of Connecticut’s Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, where she promoted technology integration in STEM programs.

Through her extensive career, JaeEun Joo has remained committed to developing innovative online and traditional learning programs and ensuring faculty and student success. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Educational Technology from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, Korea, and both master’s and doctoral degrees from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
