Martin Pollio, EdD, Appointed as 10th President of Ivy Tech Community College
The Ivy Tech Community College State Board of Trustees has announced the election of Martin Pollio, EdD, as the College’s tenth president. Starting his term from July 1, Dr. Pollio brings with him extensive experience from his tenure as superintendent of the Jefferson County Public School District in Louisville, Kentucky, where he has served since 2017. Throughout his career, he has been dedicated to improving the academic and professional outcomes for students. The Board’s decision followed a detailed nationwide search process that involved considerable faculty, staff, students, alumni, and other stakeholders.
Dr. Pollio, an alumnus of Indiana University, Eastern Kentucky University, and the University of Louisville, was selected for his commitment to student welfare and his track record in fostering workforce readiness and academic excellence. As president of Ivy Tech, Dr. Pollio will assume the role of chief executive officer of Indiana’s largest post-secondary institution, attending to the educational needs of more than 200,000 students.
In his statement, Pollio conveyed his enthusiasm for the new role and for joining an institution as esteemed as Ivy Tech. He will be replacing Dr. Sue Ellspermann, who announced her retirement in June 2024 after nearly a decade of transformative leadership at Ivy Tech.
