American businesswoman Bracha Schoonerva is sponsoring Project Bracha - A Blessing. This initiative aims to empower 20 local unemployed Indian, coloured and black women, helping them enter the lucrative hair and beauty industry. Shaun Unterslak from The Unemployed Need Transformation (UNT), a registered non-profit organization and an accredited training provider, will carry out this project’s implementation. UNT enables unskilled, unemployed individuals from informal settlements and inner cities to explore profitable, high-growth career paths. The participants in this project have learned various skills, including freehand hair styling, braiding, hair extensions, and application of artificial nails and eyelashes. These skills will provide them with opportunities either to find employment or start their own businesses in the beauty industry. A promotional event was recently conducted at the Syrox Hair Salon to showcase these women’s skills to salon owners. Unterslak expressed hope that salon owners would provide job opportunities to these trained women. He also invited any local company interested in conducting an in-house promotion for their employees to contact him. This brings an excellent chance for the project’s beneficiaries to market their skills and directly reap the profits.
