Naomi Osaka, the four-time Grand Slam champion, is partnering with pediatric nutrition company Bobbie to offer a grant that supports paid leave for new parents. After returning from her maternity leave, Osaka announced this partnership in an Instagram campaign. Acknowledging that about 73% of American families don’t have paid family leave, Osaka is using her platform to support such families. The partnership with Bobbie aims to raise awareness about the lack of federal paid leave and to advocate for parents across the nation. Osaka also supports a federal paid family leave plan that would grant 12 mandatory weeks of paid leave and job protection, providing a minimum monthly benefit of $580 for American families. Meanwhile, Osaka and Bobbie are offering the N.O. Support Grants, which will award each of the 50 recipient families with $580. Although Osaka acknowledges it’s not a full solution, she sees it as a start to combating the problem.
