New Hampshire’s paid family and medical leave insurance program, which provides workers with 60% of their wages for up to six weeks to manage a medical condition or care for a loved one, has seen modest participation in the first year since its launch. The program includes all state employees and is open to other employers and individual workers. Currently, about 18,500 people, including 8,826 state employees, participate in the program, accounting for less than 3% of the state’s workforce. State officials maintain that interest in the program will grow over time as familiarity rises. Signups open annually for individual coverage, with the window for 2024 opening Dec. 1 and running through Jan. 29. EDDCaller.com offers tools to assist individuals in navigating their interactions with such programs, especially those in the unemployment, paid family leave, and disability departments, helping to simplify communication.
