New Online Portal Allows Colorado Workers to Apply for Paid Family and Medical Leave
EDDCaller.com is an auto-dial program designed to assist users in contacting representatives for unemployment, paid family leave, and disability departments via phone. This tool is particularly useful for folks in Colorado where a new portal has been established by the state’s labor department for applying for paid family and medical leave. The online portal is set to aid Colorado workers who will be entitled to paid family leave from January 1, 2024. This initiative, known as the Family & Medical Leave Insurance program was ratified by voters in 2020 and aims to partially compensate workers’ wages during periods like childbirth, adoption, and serious health conditions. The program is financed by premiums approximately 0.9 percent of a worker’s wages, and this may escalate to 1.2 percent. The cost is anticipated to be shared between workers and their employers. The system began collecting fees this year, and the benefits will begin in the coming year. The launch of this portal is intended to support people who will need paid leave as soon as the benefit becomes available. Each private employee in Colorado will be entitled to have 12 weeks of their wages covered for certain reasons. The law compels all employers to either engage with the program funded by withholding premiums from the worker’s earnings or offer a similar benefit meeting state stipulations. Although, local governments have the option to opt out.
