The Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, highlighted the importance of unity among the Nupes at home and abroad. His stance is that the community should honour those who contribute significantly to society’s development. This viewpoint was shared at a reception for notable sons of the Emirate recently bestowed with traditional titles at Wadata Palace in Bida, Niger State.

He encouraged the newly titled individuals to invest in the Nupe kingdom to foster its development, as well as that of Niger State and Nigeria as a whole. The monarch warned against disunity, framing it as a hindrance to progress and development. He further urged the Emirate’s wealthy sons, particularly those residing overseas, to return home to establish businesses that would contribute to socio-economic growth.

The Etsu Nupe recognized Nigeria’s prevalent issues, such as insecurity and youth unrest, as linked to unemployment and poverty. He pointed out that individuals bestowed with traditional titles are known for their integrity and commitment to the social and economic welfare of the Emirate.

The newly titled Giyan Nupe, AIG Umar Abubakar-Manko (rtd), on behalf of the other title holders, pledged their commitment to fulfil their responsibilities towards the Etsu Nupe, Bida Emirate, and Niger State. They thanked the Etsu Nupe for the honor and vowed to do everything in their power to advance the Nupe kingdom, Niger State, and Nigeria.
