Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate was recorded its lowest at 3.4% in November, as announced by the state’s Department of Labor & Industry (DLI) on a Friday. The same rate was seen in September and October as per the DLI statistics. A DLI press release concludes that the November rate was a drop from the 4.4% in November 2022, showing a decrease of 1% over the previous year. In the same time frame, the national unemployment rate saw a slight increase of 0.1%.

The Pennsylvania civilian labor force saw an employment growth of 17,000 in November, due to resident employment (+15,000) and an increase in resident unemployment (+2,000). Moreover, nonfarm jobs rose by 10,900 in November, reaching a new high of 6.178 million. This marked the tenth month of 2023 setting a record high in this category. While the unemployment rate in Pennsylvania stands at 3.4%, the national average was recorded at 3.7% in November.
