Lee University’s Helen DeVos College of Education is gearing up for its 3rd annual Doctoral Student Research Poster Symposium on April 24. The symposium, scheduled from 5:30-6:30 p.m., encourages students from multiple disciplines – education, nursing, marriage, and family therapy – to present their research. Assistant Professor of Education, Dr. Roy Y. Chan, views the symposium as a networking opportunity for faculty, colleagues and graduate students, and an event that fosters cross-disciplinary discussion.

The event also serves as a platform for the wider community, including those interested in graduate education, to meet Lee’s doctoral students. This year’s speakers include Hannah Barnett, Andrew DiPastena, Robert England and more from various PhD, EdD and DNP programs.

Dr. Debbie Murray, Lee Provost and Distinguished Professor of Education, will deliver this year’s keynote speech. She is a prominent figure within the Lee faculty, having served numerous roles since joining in 1980 including dean of the education college, director of graduate studies in education and more.

The symposium is a joint effort of the EdD, DNP and PhD in MFT programs. Dr. Julie Campbell, Director of Graduate Studies in Nursing, appreciates the collaboration, stating it allows students to gain academic experience presenting their scholarly work.

Each program involved in the event has its unique aim - the EdD Program focuses on ethical action, redemptive service, and responsible citizenship, the DNP Program equips graduates for the top-tier nursing practice, and the MFT Doctoral Program encourages leaders in the field to serve Christian organizations and their surrounding communities.
