Understanding Accessible Parking Options
The University of Wyoming offers parking services that aid individuals with disabilities. The accessible parking spaces are available around the clock and are spread throughout the campus. To park in these spaces, both a state disability placard and a UW permit may be needed, as indicated in the signage at each parking space. For a complete overview of the positions for accessible parking, feel free to view the parking map available that features the universal disability symbol for easy identification.
In cases where the accessible parking is not adequately close to your destination, there is a paratransit shuttle service that can be contacted at (307) 766-6686 to see if you qualify.
There are long-term parking permits available for any students, faculty, or staff members with a temporary or permanent state disability placard. These permits, once verified with Transportation Services, allow a vehicle to park in accessible, Gold, Brown, Orange, Red, Purple, or Green spaces. Pricing and permit purchasing details can be found at the office.
For those looking for short-term parking solutions, options include daily permits that can be used in conjunction with a state/city disability placard or disability license plate for $7/day. There are also metered spaces marked with a universal disability symbol scattered across the campus for convenience.
To apply for a UW disability parking permit, you must first acquire a state or city disability placard. For those in Wyoming, state and city placards can be obtained through the Wyoming Department of Transportation and the City Manager’s Office respectively. Once you’ve obtained the placard, you can order your UW parking permit online or in-person at 1602 E. Spring Creek. Send a copy of your placard to Transportation Services by dropping by the office, emailing a scanned copy to tps@uwyo.edu, or mailing a copy. They can be contacted at (307) 766-9800 or tps@uwyo.edu for any additional help or inquiries.
