Update on the 2023 District Office Developments
Assemblymember Marie Waldron, representing California’s 75th District, spent much of 2023 aiding district residents in resolving issues with state agencies. This included facing challenges with the Employment Development Department (EDD). According to Waldron’s office, over 100 constituents sought assistance in accessing EDD benefits last year, fewer than during the peak of the pandemic when they dealt with over three thousand cases.
Their office also handled recurring problems with EDD, repeatedly reopening resolved cases due to ongoing glitches or issues. Through these experiences, they have developed insights on how to get a hold of edd, an agency that has proven difficult to contact for many residents seeking benefits. Despite the challenges, they were often able to resolve issues within a few days.
The office also took on cases relating to the Department of Motor Vehicles, Franchise Tax Board, delays in nurse licensing, and extended waiting periods for background checks, among others.
While some contacted them about non-state matters, such as border security and local zoning, which do not fall within their domain, they were always prepared to point individuals in the right direction. They encourage those unsure who to contact, to reach out to them for guidance.
